At the beginning of participation in the field of high technology agriculture, a lot of Vietnam companies often look for foreign technologies, but Delco Farm chooses a completely different way. Now, Delco Farm is one of the first smart agriculture models that is integrated with Internet of things (loT) in technology 4.0.

With its 6 ha area, located in Thuan Thanh district (Bac Ninh), 1 driving hour far from Hanoi, Delco Farm (Delco Investor and Construction Joint Stock Company) is considered as one of the most modern and smartest farming models in the Northern Vietnam, which applies 100% information technology to the clean vegetable and farm produce production model.

In Delco Farm, a special thing is that 100% farm design, construction, installation, monitoring software development, automatic control and (loT) are conducted by Delco engineers and Vietnamese partners. This helps Delco’s agriculture models get low cost, fast developing time and easy model replication capacity.

At the beginning of decision of participation in the field of high technology agriculture, Delco cooperated with Vietnamese technology companies in relative stages for mutual execution.

According to Mr. Le Khanh Manh, Chief Executive Officer of Delco Farm, the application of high technology helped the company control the productivity, quality and reduce 25% investment cost. “All technologies here are proved in value”. Mr. Manh affirmed.

For example, the company’s chicken farm was allowed to open music. Delco Farm found how to let chickens be familiar with music. At that time, they would not suffer stresses and maintain egg-laying capacity. The proof was that Delco Farm’s egg-laying hens remained 92% egg-laying capacity until the 9th month. Meanwhile, this rate in the market was 80 – 82%.

KimoJi cantaloupe produced by Delco Farm is valued from 120,000 to 150,000 Vietnam dongs per kg.

Delco Farm’s KimoJi cantaloupe is one of Japanese high quality melons, now not appeared a lot in the Vietnam market.

In early 2018, all chickens were in epidemic diseases, many farms had to cancel herbs, that is one of the risks in traditional methods. According to Mr. Manh, the technology improved egg-laying capacity and ensured efficiency, avoided unnecessary risks impacted by the external climate.

He said, that how many water and bran a henhouse consumes a day was also monitored. Therefore, if any henhouse in the day consumes less water or bran than normal, it is possible to determine which chickens are in trouble, thence giving a timely solution to the disease.

Delco has applied new technology with fresh air feeder to the end of henhouse, independent toxic suction system from inside to outside, roof cooling system, heating system for the herb in Winter, thus Delco increased 2.5 times chicken number in the same area compared to the normal raising method. Today, Delco Farm has 2 egg-laying hen areas for over 20,000 chickens, 1 hydroponic vegetable area with over 1000 m2 area and 2 KimoJi cantaloupe gardens with over 1700 m2 area each.

Also, Delco Farm has rest areas, which serves visitors coming to the farm and buying clean farming products here.

Delco’s products launched to the market in 8 months only but received quite positive feadbacks from partners and customers with regard to the quality as well as price. In present, Delco Farm is furnishing Japanese restaurants in Vietnam and some kitchens in large hotels with its farming products.

A good news to the Vietnamese agriculture is that vegetable and fruit export value in 2017 reached USD 3.5 billion while the majority of agricultural farming in Vietnam remained in extremely rudimentary level. Many provinces such as Lam Dong, Dong Nai, HCMC, Ha Nam, etc., have formed high technology agricultural areas with high economic value. However, in comparison with advanced countries in Asia and the world, the technology application in the Vietnamese agriculture remains low in level and unsystematic. Some high technologies are be made package import from overseas with high cost, the application of many technologies are really unsuitable with the condition of each ecological area in Vietnam.

Therefore, a few Vietnamese companies try their utmost to control technologies by themselves, thence enhancing the ability to replicate the high technology agriculture model to each individual farmer household. Typical, one of such companies is Delco Farm.
